Hello there.
My name is Sydney (feel free to call me Syd) and I am a Sci-fi/Fantasy author. I am 24 years old and I live in Savannah, Georgia along with my partner and dog. I was born in a tiny swamp town, and I was always into reading and writing as a child—obsessed with Nancy Drew, then The Chronicles of Narnia, then Percy Jackson, and of course, Twilight. When I got to middle school, I grew into a mega theatre nerd, which consumed all of my passion at the time. I still loved to write, but I didn't pursue it as much outside of school until my junior year of high school. I made a 5 on the AP Language and Composition exam, which meant that during my senior year, I got to skip a traditional english class and go straight into a second year college english course. That was when my passion for writing reignited, but I channeled it mainly into creating stories for D&D games!
Eventually, one D&D campaign ended up inspiring my first novel, Where The Water Burns. Teasers for that book have gone viral on tiktok and instagram a few times, and the support has been truly amazing. Now, I write every single day and I have an incredible group of people following me on my journey to becoming a published author!
5 fun facts about me:
My favorite book is My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix.
I love Gilmore Girls so much that I hate it, if that makes sense. I love it ENOUGH to hate it. I've put in the hours and I have earned that right.
There is and always will be casual queerness in all of my books. I love reading and writing about queer existence that exists outside of the narrative of "coming out." I think it has to do with the fact that I never had a dramatic "coming out" myself, I just always existed and lived in my own identity. I like reading about people like that.
I love salt and vinegar chips.
A word of advice: the villain is never who you think it is, both in my books and in real life.
